Triple Eight date plus fireworks

    Friday, August 8, 2008

by Timothy Tilghman

If you couldn't afford the high cost of airfare and expensive tickets to be in the audience to witness the lighting of the Olympic Torch ceremonies firsthand at the 29th Olympiad in Beijing, China, on August 8, 2008, then catching a spectacular fireworks display after the Orioles ballgame was an affordable alternative for a sports spectator that Friday night.

The Baltimore Enoch Pratt Library system had given away dual pairs of tickets to the ballgame as a promotion for families with young visitors at the Hampden branch library. For an August evening, the weather temperature was simply fantastic still there were large pockets of empty seats scattered throughout the stadium.
